Hi guys,
I hope you're all enjoying the rain.
I need your help.
Tomorrow I was planning on surprising my boyfriend by kidnapping him and taking him to one of the surrounding adventure sites/rivers to go kayaking and enjoy the great outdoors.
It seems that Mother Nature might night permit that for tomorrow.
So I had some other ideas for indoor activities but I wanted to hear some other ideas from you guys. I'm looking for something as quirky as you can think of or just something as simple as board games and a picnic under a canopy type thing, if it does happen to be raining. Or, is there a particular thing we could build? I'm open for any other ideas.

What are some really fun intimate creative things to do on a rainy day? (And don't give me a dirty minded answer, all you dirty minded people out there ^_^)

Thanks guys!

Dave shares what he calls, his first artistic Ikea hack. They turned out pretty classy, don't you think?

"I found a Centrera Lykta Lantern in the scratch and dent room on my inaugural trip to the Ikea that opened in Charlotte, NC earlier this year. It is a candle lantern with an aluminum base and glass globe. The glass globe on the scratch and dent Lykta had seen better days but I was most interested in the aluminum base which had a lot of possibilities.

I am a woodturner and always on the lookout for round fittings and pieces to incorporate into my turnings. I turned a bowl out of Bubinga wood to sit inside of the lip of the Lykta. The piece is 5" in diameter and 3.25" high."

Family portrait. I enjoy my sneer.

Kyu had eight teeth for four months. Last week, he grew three, including a giant ass molar. He was nonchalant about it.

Let me explain. My friend Cris got a video of her 11 cats accepted on America's Funniest Home Videos, or AFV as it is known today. She doesn't have a television, so she and her husband came over to watch it. You know I like themes, and what comes to mind when one ponders AFV? That's right, balls. Thus, I present my two-ball, banana split with crushed nuts. Yeah, a triple metaphor, muthafuckaz.

Okay, So I am doing the low GI Diet, I have been for about a week.
And I have noticed that I am getting head aches more frequently and I seem to be bitchier than normal.

Has anyone done the PCOS diet (while on Fertility treatments) and had this problem?

Current Mood: cranky

Ok, need some help. I fucked my friend's computer. But I think I know what's wrong. I had ripped some cds (using her computer) to my external HD and then I proceeded to transfer the albums she wanted from my external HD to her computer's HD. I didn't check how much room she had on her HD prior, because I figured if there was not enough room, a little message would pop up and tell me so. Anyway, it had been 2 hours or so since I had done this, and then I walked away for about 20 mins. When I came back, the computer had restarted to the F8 screen (computer didn't shut down properly, would you like to start up in safe mode, last known good configuration, normally, etc). I have tried all of the options, to no avail. What I THINK happened was that windows tried to update, and it didn't have enough room to update due to the music files I put on her computer, so something got corrupted. *THINK* For all I know, it *could* be a virus somehow running rampant through my external HD, although I really think it's a space issue. At any rate, I am unable to get windows to boot. And I don't have a windows XP cd, and neither does she (she purchased the computer from a neighbor and it already had windows installed, it's a really old computer). I would like to try to boot from windows XP cd, delete the music files, and then repair windows, and see if that fixes it.

Therefore... I need to borrow someone's XP cd, or someone who is savy with computers that can help us out here. I'm a guest in her house and I'd feel just terrible if I really BROKE her computer and lost all her files. I'm fairly certain the files are fine, but I also do not know how to get the files off if I can't get windows to boot. (I've been told you can put the HD into another computer with windows and do it like that, but I don't know how to do that...) Seriously, this issue has me more stressed than it should.

Thanks to anyone who can help me! Severely limited internet access...

David tipped me on this smart solution of room corners by Kurzel. [via There, I Fixed It]. The criss-crossing shelves are a nice touch.

For PEOPLE WHO NEED A JOB:

I work at the grooming salon at Petsmart, and we are desperately needing to hire new people to work. The job would be through Christmas, but it would not be just a seasonal job unless you wanted it to be.

Requirements: Enjoy working with pets (big dogs, small dogs, old dogs, mean dogs, etc.)
Be able to multi-task exceptionally well
Be capable of working 9+ hour shifts in a fast-paced, physical environment
Be able to learn, or already know, specifics about dog grooming
Be willing to get very dirty and wet every day

The Job: The job would be for a F/T or P/T Grooming Assistant (otherwise known as a Bather). Bathers are responsible for answering phones, making appointments, checking clients in and out, cleaning the salon, and of course, bathing dogs. Over Christmas, there would be opportunities for 40+ hours a week, especially the weeks before Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Soooo, if you need a job and are staying here through the semester break, go to petsmart.com and apply for the position. There is only one Petsmart in the city, and the job is for Bather/Brusher.

I got a frosting recipe here for buttercream frosting. It calls for one stick of butter, one 8-ounce package of cream cheese, about 1/8 cup buttermilk, vanilla extract, and a normal-sized package of confectioner's sugar. I think of the 5 or so times I've used the recipe, only once did it turn out stiff enough to hold its shape.

Click here to see ) how my frosting turned out. In particular, check out the border at the bottom of the cake. Those were supposed to be shells, but they got all melty! I mean, eventually the frosting hardened, but I would've liked for the border to have the shell shape.

Anyway, since I got the recipe from here a while ago, I figured I'd ask here how I should go about stiffening up my homemade frosting. I want it to hold its shape!

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

I was going through some old motivators, culling ones that I didn't like anymore or didn't remember saving (don't ask), and I found the one under the cut. Maybe 2012 is gonna be awesome, after all.

Though the idea of using client software to interact with your run-of-the-mill web service seems a bit silly these days, something seems cool about it; if nothing else, perhaps it's the way it helps recall a time when web browsers sucked more, or Internet connections were too slow, or not ubiquitous or always-on or something, and programs like this were desirable, if not necessary.

I was just poking around my circa-1996, Windows-98-having IBM that I appear to have last used in 2004 (if I'm not mistaken, when my first laptop was away for repairs; it was a miserable experience) and found what has to be a rather lonely LiveJournal client (LiveJournal for Windows, 1.4.7-beta-lite). I'll bet it never expected to post another entry!

(The Firefox I have installed on here, 0.9, wasn't cooperating with spellcheck.net, so I fired up Internet Explorer... 4.0. It actually worked.
